Tragedy Strikes: Plane Crash in Roatán

A Lanhsa airline plane crashed into the sea shortly after taking off from Juan Manuel Gálvez Airport in Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras. Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the area, while authorities investigate the causes of the accident.

Onboard the aircraft were at least 15 people, including foreigners and captains Luis Ángel Araya and Francisco Lagos. Among the passengers were a U.S. citizen, a woman of French origin, and two minors.

Firefighters, Copeco teams, and emergency personnel managed to rescue 10 injured people, who were transported to a hospital. Unfortunately, authorities confirmed the death of six individuals, whose names have not yet been revealed.

The aviation accident occurred around 6:00 PM when the plane, a Jetstream 41 with capacity for 33 passengers, lost power in its engines and fell into the sea, approximately one kilometer from the runway. According to the National Police, the aircraft suffered a mechanical failure shortly after takeoff on its route to La Ceiba.
