The new president of Honduras, Nasry 'Tito' Asfura, promised his compatriots on Tuesday when he assumed his mandate that he would not fail them and that with his Administration, everyone would be well. 'Honduras, I will not fail you, we will be okay,' said Asfura. 'I swear to comply with the Constitution and the laws as they are written in the sacred commandments,' he added. In his speech, delivered in the Parliament, Asfura, who received the support of US President Donald Trump three days before the general elections on December 30, focused on the priority issues that, in his opinion, need to be addressed immediately, including health, education, employment, and security, among others. Asfura did not invite presidents and heads of state from other countries to the inauguration ceremony for reasons of 'austerity', preferring to assume his mandate in the Parliament building, contrary to the traditional inaugurations at the National Stadium in the capital. Ambassadors and representatives of international organizations accredited in the country attended this ceremony. 'God bless you, your families, God bless Honduras,' expressed Asfura in his ten-minute speech.
