Honduran President Safe After Helicopter Emergency Landing

President Xiomara Castro of Honduras is unharmed after her helicopter made an emergency landing due to adverse weather on the way to Tegucigalpa from San Pedro Sula.

The president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, emerged unscathed after an emergency landing of the helicopter she was traveling in from San Pedro Sula, in the north, to Tegucigalpa, in the center. The incident occurred in the Santa Cruz de Yojoa area, in the southernmost part of the Cortés department, due to weather conditions, specifically a cold front that has caused rain in the region.

Castro informed journalists about the situation: 'We were coming from San Pedro to Tegucigalpa and it was closed. We could neither proceed nor return, so we had to make an emergency landing, we are all very well, I thank you very much for your concern.' The Honduran Foreign Minister, Eduardo Enrique Reina, also confirmed that the president and her entourage are in optimal condition and out of danger.

The president was on a work trip inside the country when the helicopter, apparently of a civilian nature, had to make an emergency landing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The northern region of Honduras has been experiencing adverse weather conditions due to the cold front, which necessitated the urgent landing.
