Honduras Plane Crash: Casualties Reported

An air accident in Honduras has left a tragic toll of 12 dead, 5 injured, and 1 missing. The president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, expressed her dismay at what happened. The airplane, belonging to the company Lanhsa, was heading from Roatan to La Ceiba when it crashed into the sea shortly after taking off from Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport.

The president commissioner of the National Emergency System 911, Miroslava Cerpas, reported that the aircraft suffered a mechanical failure that caused it to lose power in its engines. Search and rescue operations were immediately initiated, successfully extracting both survivors and the deceased from the water and transporting them to nearby hospitals.

The president activated the Emergency Operations Committee (COE), made up of various organizations and authorities, to coordinate the rescue efforts. The team quickly moved to the accident site, near the airport, to assist the victims and their families.

Xiomara Castro committed to ensuring proper care for those affected and closely monitoring the rescue and salvage operations. Meanwhile, the public hospitals in San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba are ready to receive the injured passengers in this tragic air incident in Honduras.
