Tropical storm Sara caused heavy rainfall on the coasts of Honduras in recent days, affecting more than 85 thousand people. Honduran authorities struggled to provide emergency services as the storm remained stationary in its path, causing an increase in the levels of rivers flowing into the Caribbean Sea. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Gracias a Dios, Colón, Atlántida, Cortés, and Bay Islands, leaving 251 communities cut off, eight bridges destroyed, and 16 damaged. Although the storm has left Honduran territory, its cloud bands continue to cause intense rainfall in some regions of Mexico.
