The candidate of the ruling Liberty and Renewal (Libre) party, Rixi Moncada, called on her supporters to 'remain in the fight' as votes are being counted in the Honduran elections, international media reported. In a message on her X account, Moncada expressed her 'gratitude' to her party and the Honduran people, who 'massively turned out to vote' for her proposal for 'economic and democratic reform'. 'I ask us to remain in the fight until we get the final results with 100% of the presidential, mayoral, and deputy ballots,' Moncada wrote. Meanwhile, Manuel Zelaya, the country's former president and advisor to his wife, current head of state Xiomara Castro, described the candidate's call as 'moral, patriotic, and in line with the full truth that the people ordered at the polls and that we cannot ignore'. 'Libre is a party of ideals proven on the streets and with great social and democratic results in the exercise of the Presidency with Xiomara Castro,' he stated.
